New Release Date Set for Babanba Banban Vampire Live-Action Film

by Chris Davies

The live-action adaptation of Babanba Banban Vampire has officially set a new release date following its delay earlier this year. The film, now slated to premiere on July 4, comes with the unveiling of a fresh trailer, offering fans a glimpse into the paranormal chaos and quirky bathhouse antics that await.

Directed by Shinji Hamasaki, the film stars Ryo Yoshizawa, known for his role as Sougo Okita in the Gintama live-action series, as the 450-year-old vampire Ranmaru Mori. Rihito Itagaki, famous for his portrayal of Norman in The Promised Neverland live-action adaptation, plays Rihito Tatsuno, the young man pursued by Ranmaru for his blood. The film is based on Hiromasa Okujima’s Babanba Banban Vampire, a “bloody love-comedy” (BL) manga.

In addition to the live-action adaptation, Netflix also streams the anime version of the series, describing the plot as follows: When 15-year-old Rihito falls in love, an ancient vampire seeking virgin blood must protect the teenager’s innocence at all costs. The film promises a unique blend of action, romance, and suspense, all wrapped in a bizarre supernatural mystery.
