by Chris Davies

The highly anticipated Minecraft film is set to hit cinemas on April 4, 2025. With just over a month until its premiere, fans were given a sneak peek through the final trailer, offering fresh glimpses into the film’s plot and tone.

The trailer highlights a series of humorous moments, including a memorable scene featuring Jason Momoa’s character in a quirky fight with a chicken. It also introduces the film’s primary antagonist, Malgosha—the menacing leader of the Underworld’s Pygmies, voiced by Rachel House.

Directed by Jared Hess, known for Nacho Libre, the movie stars Jason Momoa, Jack Black, Emma Myers, Jennifer Coolidge, and several other notable actors. The storyline centers on four characters who are transported into the blocky world of Minecraft through a mysterious portal. In this cubic universe, survival depends on creativity. Alongside seasoned builder Steve, played by Jack Black, the group must navigate the challenges of this strange new world and protect it from looming threats like zombies and pygmies.

Despite the excitement surrounding the film, online reactions have been mixed. Some fans believe the movie would have worked better as an animated feature rather than live-action. Nevertheless, with Minecraft’s massive global fanbase, the film still has strong potential to succeed at the box office.
