Amanda Seyfried returns to the small screen in a leading role for Long Bright River, a limited mystery series set to premiere on Peacock on March 13. Following her critically acclaimed performance in The Dropout and her recent role in The Crowded Room, Seyfried stars as Mickey, a dedicated police officer in Philadelphia caught in the aftermath of the opioid crisis.
The series, based on Liz Moore’s 2020 New York Times bestselling novel, follows Mickey as she patrols a neighborhood ravaged by addiction. When three girls are found dead under mysterious circumstances, Mickey is drawn into a case that forces her to confront her own troubled past. The tense trailer reveals Mickey’s struggle as her personal involvement with the case comes into question. “You seem to take it personally and you won’t tell me why,” Detective Lafferty, portrayed by Dash Mihok, says to her in one poignant scene.
The ensemble cast features John Doman (The Wire), Nicholas Pinnock (For Life), Ashleigh Cummings (Hounds of Love), and Callum Vinson (Chucky), with guest stars including Mihok, Britne Oldford (Dead Ringers), and Matthew Del Negro (Wind River). Hagar Ben-Asher directs the first and fifth episodes.
Produced by Sony Pictures Television and Universal Content Productions (UCP), Long Bright River is executive produced by Seyfried, Moore, and Nikki Toscano (The Offer). The project also boasts an impressive lineup of executive producers, including Neal H. Moritz (Fast & Furious), Pavun Shetty (Gen V), and Amy Pascal (Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse).
The eight-episode series will be available for streaming exclusively on Peacock, offering viewers a thrilling exploration of mystery and redemption.
