Furlong Stars in Cosmic Horror “Unspeakable: Beyond the Wall of Sleep”

by Chris Davies

Edward Furlong, famed for his iconic role in Terminator 2: Judgment Day, is back in a new, terrifying role in Unspeakable: Beyond the Wall of Sleep. This cosmic horror film, set to be released on VOD on March 4 by Breaking Glass Pictures, is inspired by H.P. Lovecraft’s 1919 short story “Beyond the Wall of Sleep.”

Directed and written by Chad Ferrin, Unspeakable marks the third Lovecraft adaptation in Ferrin’s career, following The Deep Ones (2020) and The Old Ones (2024). The film takes viewers into the unsettling world of renowned oneirologist Ambrose London, who is called to investigate a peculiar case at Arkham Asylum. The patient, seemingly possessed by the spirit of a 122-year-old colonial peasant, presents an unexplainable split personality. What begins as a psychological study soon spirals into nightmarish terror when London’s Dream Machine inadvertently unleashes an alien life form bent on destroying humanity.

The cast features Bai Ling (The Crow), Ginger Lynn (The Devil’s Rejects), Robert Miano (Donnie Brasco), Lew Temple (The Devil’s Rejects), Steve Railsback (Lifeforce), and Cyril O’Reilly (Porky’s), alongside Furlong in the lead role.

Chad Ferrin expressed his excitement about the film’s upcoming release, saying, “Thrilled to have Unspeakable: Beyond the Wall of Sleep, the final film in my Lovecraft trilogy, in the hands of Breaking Glass Pictures. I know this boundary-pushing, gonzo film will get the passionate release it deserves from them.”

The movie also features practical effects by Joe Castro, known for his work on Campfire Tales and Iron Sky: The Coming Race.

Previously, Lovecraft’s Beyond the Wall of Sleep was adapted into a 2006 film featuring Tom Savini. However, Ferrin’s new take promises a fresh, more intense perspective on the classic tale.
