Gravitas Ventures has released the trailer for Death 4 Dinner, an indie mystery thriller set for VOD release in March 2025. Directed by Lana Read, this film marks her latest venture into the world of suspenseful storytelling, though she remains relatively unknown in mainstream cinema.
The plot follows Detective Noah Rafferty (Michael Paré) and his partner (Wendell Kinney) as they investigate the sudden, suspicious death of a prominent Ohio senator (Cyril O’Reilly). While trying to uncover the truth behind his untimely demise, the detectives must contend with the eccentric, greed-driven family members of the deceased senator. Each relative is eager to lay claim to the substantial inheritance left behind by their recently deceased father (John Savage), setting the stage for a classic tale of family conflict and betrayal.
The film features a diverse cast, including Wendell Kinney, John Savage, Jessica Dawn Willis, Erik Fellows, Carly Wheeler, and Lenny Robinson. Despite the intriguing premise, some critics may find the plot formulaic, offering another run-of-the-mill “whodunit” centered around greed and murder, though its quirky tone offers a bit of a twist.
Directed and produced by Lana Read, Death 4 Dinner marks another addition to her growing body of work, which includes indie films such as Christmas Collision, Forbearance, and Wine Thief. The screenplay was co-written by Read, Brian Dobbins, and Philip Adrian Booth. While the film has not been featured in any major film festivals, it will be released directly to VOD on March 7th, 2025.
With the promise of a darkly comedic mystery, Death 4 Dinner could appeal to fans of suspense thrillers and family dramas alike.
