Madelyn Cline, known for her role in Outer Banks, has been cast in Lionsgate’s upcoming film Day Drinker, which will be headlined by Pirates of the Caribbean stars Johnny Depp and Penélope Cruz. While details about Cline’s character remain under wraps, her casting adds to the growing anticipation surrounding the film.
Cline, who gained recognition through her role in the hit Netflix series Outer Banks, also featured in the ensemble cast of Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery. She is currently involved in the production of Sony Pictures’ untitled sequel to I Know What You Did Last Summer, alongside original cast members Jennifer Love Hewitt and Freddie Prinze Jr. Additionally, Cline will star in the upcoming romantic drama The Map That Leads to You, produced by Amazon MGM Studios and co-starring KJ Apa.
Day Drinker, which promises to be a high-octane thriller, follows the story of a cruise ship bartender who crosses paths with a mysterious day drinker. Their chance meeting soon spirals into an intricate web of crime and unexpected connections, according to the film’s official synopsis.
The movie is set to be directed by Marc Webb, with a screenplay penned by Zach Dean. Day Drinker is produced by Basil Iwanyk and Erica Lee of Thunder Road, who are best known for their work on the John Wick series. Dean and Adam Kolbrenner will also serve as producers, while 30WEST will executive produce.
Although Day Drinker currently lacks an official release date, Lionsgate’s Motion Picture Group chair Adam Fogelson has described the project as combining “a highly commercial concept with wildly outrageous twists and turns set in an incredible world.” Chelsea Kujawa will oversee the film for Lionsgate, with Dan Freedman handling the studio’s deals.
As anticipation builds, Day Drinker is shaping up to be a high-profile release that is sure to captivate audiences with its gripping premise and star-studded cast.
