HBO has released the first teaser for its upcoming satirical comedy-drama movie Mountainhead, created by Emmy-winning Succession mastermind Jesse Armstrong. The film is slated to premiere on May 31.
Set against the backdrop of a luxurious, snow-covered mountain cabin, Mountainhead follows a group of billionaire friends whose retreat is disrupted by a sudden and mysterious global crisis. As the situation escalates, their conversations subtly suggest they may be complicit in the chaos unraveling beyond their alpine hideaway.
The star-studded cast includes Steve Carell as Randall, Jason Schwartzman as Souper (real name Hugo Van Yalk), Cory Michael Smith as Venis, and Ramy Youssef as Jeff. Rounding out the ensemble are Hadley Robinson, Andy Daly, Ali Kinkade, Daniel Oreskes, David Thompson, Amie MacKenzie, and Ava Kostia.
Jesse Armstrong not only wrote and directed the movie but also serves as executive producer alongside longtime collaborators Frank Rich, Lucy Prebble, Jon Brown, Tony Roche, Will Tracy, Mark Mylod, and Jill Footlick.
Mountainhead is expected to blend Armstrong’s signature sharp wit with a timely critique of wealth and responsibility, continuing his exploration of power dynamics in a changing world. The movie will debut exclusively on HBO on May 31.
